Winter is flying by, and I have truly settled into life as a first-year Dance Major and Theatre Minor at Northwestern University! In addition to taking numerous academic and technique classes, I have joined Steam Heat Dance Company (Musical Theatre Dance) and Arts Alliance (Student Theatre Board).
In the fall, I co-Stage Managed the Freshman Cabaret sponsored by the Dolphin Show, Assistant Produced the 81st Annual Dolphin Show Kinky Boots (the largest student-produced musical in the country), and performed in the NU Dance Program’s Fall Dance Concert. After finals week, I got to stay on campus to help construct the Kinky Boots‘ set and watch the design elements come to life!
Currently, I am in rehearsals for The Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for the Performing Art’s Danceworks 2024: Emergence opening March 8th. Since the beginning of January, I have spent four nights a week dancing in and devising two twenty-minute long concert pieces.
This spring is going to be even more exciting! I will be performing in the Wirtz Center’s How to Know the Wildflowers: A Map, a devised work, as The Prairie. Behind the scenes, I will be directing a new work called Fly Away Home (Laura King) for the Purple Crayon Players’ 16th Annual PLAYground Festival for Fresh Works and co-producing one of Northwestern Theatre’s most beloved traditions: The Freshman Musical.
I am loving every minute of my time at Northwestern, and I cannot wait for the rest of this year!
